Agriculture Canada's Central Experimental Farm is in the heart of the city of Ottawa. It is clearly seen in this image and the overview image, as it is the only area characterized by the familiar farm field patterns (A). Field colours include red, pink, dark and light green tones, representing variation in ground cover. The main farm buildings are visible on the north east side of the farm (B). A large extensive program in agricultural management and the development of new techniques and methods in farming as well as seed/crop variety experiments are carried out at the farm. Next to the Farm is the Arboretum (tree exhibition area) and the Rideau Canal (C). Beside the dark line of the canal, you can see a light-toned line which is a road following the right shore of the canal. The canal flows into Dow's Lake (D), a small, artificial lake. The dark circles near E are actually the shadows cast by nearby tall apartment buildings.
